Jenna Dunlop, PhD

Jenna Dunlop, PhD
Director, Land EPA

Jenna Dunlop joined the COSIA team as Director for the Land Environmental Priority Area (EPA) in October, 2014. She is taking over from Acting Land Director, Jack O’Neil, who has overseen the EPA for most of 2014, following the completion of former Director Garry Scrimgeour’s secondment.

Under Jack’s leadership, the Land EPA began 16 new projects in 2014. In the same year the EPA completed nine projects.

Jenna will lead the EPA into 2015 with 117 active projects. This is in addition to the 29 completed projects and 365 shared technologies since the EPA’s inception in 2012.

About Jenna

Jenna completed her undergraduate education at the University of Toronto with a double major in Psychology and Anthropology. She followed this with a PhD in Evolutionary Biology (Zoology) and, as a finale, an MBA, both from York University.

After completing her PhD, Jenna wrote and edited high school science and math textbooks and worked as contract faculty, teaching science courses at York University and George Brown College.

As a result of completing her MBA, she became interested in policy. Jenna held a number of environmental policy positions in Ontario. She developed Durham Region’s climate change strategy and held several senior policy advisor positions in the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation.

Her work in climate change policy brought her to the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers where she was Manager of Climate Change Policy and Environmental Policy for four years.

Jenna is looking forward to getting back to her roots in research in her role as Director of COSIA’s Land EPA. She’s also looking forward to getting to know her Steering Committee and seeing the different perspectives each of the companies bring to the EPA as they work to fill Gaps with current projects and move towards achieving their Aspiration; to be world leaders in land management, restoring the land and preserving biodiversity of plants and animals.
