We want to drive collaboration not only with the member companies but also between the Associate Members themselves. By opening doors and making connections among our associate membership, we see valuable knowledge sharing that results in innovative technology development.
Through our Associate Member, Canada-Israel Industrial Research and Development Foundation (CIIRDF), we’ve already witnessed what can happen when you bring together some of the most innovative minds coming from different perspectives and different parts of the world. Our first discussions with CIIRDF last year saw 25 submissions come into COSIA, and we’re moving ahead with seven of these; so successful has been the relationship that in May, we met with CIIRDF in Tel Aviv again to share our Water and Greenhouse Gas Challenges.
Through our partnership with BC Innovation Council, COSIA ran its Cleantech Energy Innovation Challenge workshop. We received 12 submissions and have recently confirmed that we are taking four of these on for a closer look. All in all, this sort of success would not have been possible without bringing those innovators together with COSIA, Alberta Innovates, Sustainable Development Technology Canada and Natural Resources Canada to examine issues faced by our industry, discuss opportunities and explore the innovation model in our country.
We’ll continue to engage with our Associate Members throughout the year and stay focused on providing them the clarity they need to bring ideas forward. Details around our screening criteria and how our decisions are made will only help to continue to unearth the best opportunities for us to explore together.
